North Swindon MP and former Minister for Disabled People Justin Tomlinson, has spoken at the annual Carers Rights Day event hosted by the Swindon Carers Centre.
Carers Rights Day is an annual event which raises awareness of the needs & rights of carers and makes carers aware of where they can get the help and support they are entitled too.
Susanna Jones, Swindon Carers Centre CEO, said, “It is vital carers have their expertise and voice recognised and heard to influence the development of services for carers in Swindon. Carers Rights Day is a great way to raise awareness of the work the 21,000 unpaid carers in Swindon do, and to ensure they can directly speak with health and social care leaders in the town.”
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I do a lot of work each year alongside the Swindon Carers Centre to ensure that the tremendous work that local carers do is supported and acknowledged. This annual event is a great way for me to thank them for the work that they do, discuss the work going on in Parliament to ensure that the 2014 Care Act is fully implemented and share best practice. I am also pleased to continue connecting businesses with carers to ensure that their contribution can be acknowledged by the whole town and can be rightly rewarded.”
