Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, has visited TBG Learning in Swindon, a local provider of the Government's Work Programme which provides a range of support, guidance and employability training to unemployed people in the area to help get people into work.
Justin chatted to staff at the Swindon branch to hear about how they work with people to help them find sustainable employment by supporting them through the job search and application process. By providing specialist support, information, advice and guidance, TBG help to tackle any issues or barriers preventing people from getting back into work.
Those using the TBG centre are given access to free numeracy and literacy courses in case they need to develop their basic skills. Crucially, once in employment, a two year in-work support package is provided to help people remain in work, long-term.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was great to see the support that is available to help those who are still struggling to find work, whatever the issues may be. By providing assistance with numeracy, literacy and computer skills, the team at TBG are geared towards helping people back into work. Crucially, they continue this support when people find work in order to ensure long-term employment."
