North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson, has welcomed the addition of a new highly accessible restroom and changing facility at the Orbital Shopping Park. The new facility is supported by the Changing Places charity and seeks to address the fact the at least 250,000 people across the UK have varying levels of difficulty using even standard disabled toilets.
Located by the shopping park’s customer services hub and near Justin Tomlinson’s office, the facilities allow people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well people with other physical disabilities such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis, extra equipment and space to allow them to use the toilets safely and comfortably.
Justin said: “It is fantastic to see the Orbital Shopping Park introducing a Changing Places toilet to help ensure everyone can take part in the day to day activities that we take for granted. My particular thanks go to the Orbital’s site manager Jamie Turner for the forward vision to make this happen and I look forward to people making use of these excellent new facilities.”
