North Swindon MP Welcomes Pupils From Ruskin Junior School To Parliament

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has welcomed students from Ruskin Junior to Parliament to learn more about his role as their MP.

More than 20 students from the school in the Stratton area of Swindon, were in Westminster as part of a visit organised by the Parliament Education Service, which introduces young people to politics and the political process. During the visit, the students get a tour of Parliament and learn about how laws are made.

Pupils from Ruskin also had the opportunity to watch a debate in the House of Commons before they got the opportunity to meet their MP.

Justin took a wide range of questions from the pupils on issues from Brexit to how he splits his time between London and Swindon. He also took the opportunity to explain what he does as a fellow North Swindon resident to represent them in Parliament.

The North Swindon MP regularly visits all of the schools across the constituency, conducting enjoyable & interactive assemblies where students get the opportunity to pass their own School Parliamentary Bill.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It’s always fantastic to welcome pupils from local schools to Parliament. The group from Ruskin Junior School were incredibly engaged and asked some brilliant questions on how the House of Commons works and about the work I do to represent them. These tours are a brilliant opportunity for young people to find out more about laws are made and how their voice is heard. If any other local schools or colleges are interested in visiting then please do not hesitate to get in touch."
