Local MP Justin Tomlinson has welcomed the excellent work of businesses & employment support providers as people from across Swindon attended Swindon Jobfest 2017 at STEAM.

Swindon Jobfest is an event put on by Swindon Borough Council to encourage engagement between local employers and young people who are seeking employment, as well as providing jobseekers with with an opportunity to engage the services of specialist employment services offered by the local authority, the Swindon Jobcentre and expert providers.

Last year more than 80 employers attended the event and this year saw major local employers including Nationwide, Network Rail, Thames Water, Great Western Hospital, Honda & BMW offering opportunities to people across Swindon. Additionally Justin had the opportunity to talk with many of the local residents looking to take of advantage of the specialist tailored employment support on offer which covered areas including disability.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "While unemployment in Swindon is well below the national average at just 1.3%, there are still fantastic efforts being made locally to help those looking for work into careers that best suit them. Swindon Jobfest is a brilliant example of how we can bring together local employers, employment support providers and residents to help fellow Swindon residents find the employment that suits them. Every year the event gets bigger & better, and I'm delighted that this year so many of our major local employers have taken part".
