Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said the new Panattoni site in Swindon is evidence that the Government’s plan for the economy is working.
The Prime Minister made the remarks at the ground braking ceremony at the Stratton development. He was joined by Swindon MPs Justin Tomlinson and Robert Buckland, and representatives from Panattoni - including UK Managing Director Matthew Byrom.
Panattoni Park Is on if Panattoni’s significant new global developments, taking over the previous Honda site. The new facility will span 360 acres, with planning permission in place for 7.2 million sq ft of logistics, industrial and data centre real estate.
The £900m commercial site is expected to create 7,000 jobs in Swindon and bring a £1.2 billion benefit to Swindon’s economy.
Once the whole site has been constructed, expected to take ten years, there will be 7,074 jobs directly on the site, an increase of 5,305 over the Honda plant.
Justin Tomlinson MP said “Today once again shows Swindon is open for business with 11,000 jobs set to be created, including advanced manufacturing, head offices and logistics. This is a huge vote of confidence for our town."
