North Swindon MP Takes Part In Disability Football Festival

North Swindon MP, and Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Justin Tomlinson took part in a special football event to continue his work to promote the power of sport to ensure that people with disabilities are included in society.

Justin took part in the Premier League and BT Sport Disability Football Festival, which aims to help disabled people become more active and more confident, as well as promote inclusivity in sport.

The event showcased the work of the Premier League BT Disability Fund, and its work to create possibilities for disabled people through sport and break down barriers to participation. Since launching three years the fund has seen 32,000 participants take part.

More than 200 people attended the festival; with a range of activities on offer including blind and amputee football demonstrations. Attendees also had the opportunity to have their picture with the Premier League trophy.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It was just amazing to see the excitement from the young people who took part, and how rewarding it is for everyone to showcase their ability. These inclusive sessions are giving young adults an opportunity to take part and enjoy football.”
