Swindon Supermarine 0 v 1 Colchester Utd, FA Cup 2nd Round
Justin Tomlinson MP, "I was delighted to have the opportunity to travel down to Colchester to cheer on Swindon Supermarine in the FA Cup 2nd round match. Not only was this the first time Swindon Supermarine had made it into the 2nd round of the FA Cup, but the money raised from the cup run has helped generate about £50,000 for the club, which only a few months back was struggling to raise enough money to survive.
"The match was fantastic, and whilst we lost, the players can hold their heads up high as they more than deserved to take something from this match, especially with the late effort which crashed off the post.
"Swindon Supermarine have been a real credit to the town, I am just gutted we haven't been able to see Swindon Town and Swindon Supermarine secure a match in the next round - though lets hope Swindon Town at least can keep the cup hopes up for the town."
