Earlier this week the Secretary of State for Health, Steve Barclay MP, confirmed that the £49 million Government funding for the A&E expansion, and new Urgent Treatment (UTC) and Radiotherapy Centres was a record investment in Swindon healthcare facilities.
Health Secretary Steve Barclay MP said: “I am very happy to confirm that it is the largest investment in Swindon facilities. My hon. Friend is right to draw the House’s attention to the £26 million investment in A&E and the £23 million investment in radiotherapy. It is a tribute to his championing of the need for those facilities in Swindon that the NHS has responded and this capital funding has been provided.”
Justin Tomlinson MP said:
“He is absolutely correct to say that myself and my South Swindon colleague Robert Buckland MP have championed the need for these facilities in Swindon and campaigned to secure this funding. It was fantastic to see the new UTC and Radiotherapy Centre completed and operational, and I very much look forward to seeing work on the A&E progress. We will certainly continue to push for this record funding to continue.”
