Swindon Advertiser Weekly Article - 24th May 2013

I was truly shocked this week by the awful events in Woolwich.  To run down a British soldier on a London street and then kill him in such a violent way is a completely monstrous act. The perpetrators will cite religion and British foreign policy as their justification.  True they see British forces as occupiers rather than liberators and true they follow the Quran, but the truth is neither is any more than a cowardly attempt to justify such animalistic behaviour.  Indeed, the first man to lay f...

Justin Visits Swindon's Britannia Majorettes

Justin Tomlinson MP visited Ferndale Primary School one evening to see the Britannia Majorettes, a junior military style brass instrumental marching majorette troupe, rehearse their routines. The group of girls, aged from 5-16, meet once a week to practice their marching and music, tying it all together into an engaging and impressive display. The Majorettes aim to build confidence in young girls who are particularly shy or come from challenging backgrounds.  One of the parents who help run the ...

Justin Speaks Out On Future Of High Street

Justin Speaks Out On Future Of High Street

It is a pleasure to serve under your chairmanship, Mr Davies. I congratulate Simon Danczuk on raising this important subject. It is one on which I am passionate, because my parents ran shops, so after school I often played behind the shop counter. We had wool shops—so I wore ill-fitting jumpers well past the time when it was socially acceptable—and a series of hairdresser's shops, which were ultimately wasted on me. I am also the vice-chair of the all-party groups on town centres and on retail. ...

Justin said "This is a fantatsic addition to this local library and I am ...

Swindon Advertiser Weekly Article - 17th May 2013

Last week I set out the content of the Queen’s Speech – the changes that the Government plans to make over the next 12 months.  Yet it is important to qualify this.  The Speech represents the ideas that the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats have agreed upon.  Each Party has its desires that did not make it onto the Government programme because the other Party refused. The most important commitment for the Conservative Party, blocked from being Government policy in this way, is a referendum...
